Changes made by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection effective March, 2006 totally restructured the Texas Fire Service Instructor Program.
In order for a person to become certified as an Instructor after March 1, 2006, that individual must have three years active service with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, attend and successfully complete an approved Instructor program, AND pass a State Examination.
What's the difference between the different levels?
Level 1 Instructor: Teaches a class from a prepared lesson plan.
Level 2 Instructor: Prepares lesson plans and is able to also teach these classes.
Level 3 Instructor: Identifies Objectives to create a training course around and is able to administer the overall instructor program. After a Level 3 Instructor identifies objectives, the Level 2 Instructor develops lesson plans to teach that subject, and the Level 1 Instructor is capable of teaching from that prepared lesson plan.
Courses either in the on-line format or the on-site delivery are available. Kilgore College Fire Academy offer on-line courses in which the students have the benefit of staying at home or at the fire station to receive the training without having to travel, stay in motels, or being away from home for extended periods of time.
Students can participate in our courses via the internet where they receive the course materials, contact an instructor anytime they have a question, and then attend a one-day skills session to demonstrate their mastery of the outlined objectives.
Or, If there is a need in a department or area, Fire In Texas will come to you and conduct the training in your facility.
Contact Fire In Texas for details on either program or if there are any other questions you may have regarding any of the courses offered by Fire In Texas.
